Olympic athlete Gus Kenworthy has revealed that a kissing scene starring him and Brian Jordan Alvarez was cut from his new comedy film, 80 for Brady.
The movie follows four lifelong friends (Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno and Sally Field) who travel to watch former NFL quarterback Tom Brady and his New England Patriots play in Super Bowl LI in 2017.
It also stars Billy Porter, Rob Corddru and Guy Fieri, among others.
Kenworthy has now shared that his cameo originally saw him making out with his on-screen boyfriend Alvarez, who recently appeared in M3GAN.
“They said they had to cut it for time, but I think they cut it for Middle America,” the former GAY TIMES cover star told Variety.
Several takes of the kiss were shot, some of which got quite “raunchy”.

Kenworthy continued: “They used the script for one take, but then we did it like four or fives times where we would just ad-lib insults at each other and then make out.”
When approached for comment by Variety, representatives for Tom Brady and Paramount Pictures reportedly “declined to comment for this story.”
20 minutes of the film was cut “for pacing reasons”
Production company Fifth Season did, however, release a statement in which it said that 20 minutes was “cut form the film for pacing reasons, including key scenes with cast members, along with cameo appearances such as Gus and Brian’s kissing scene.”
“We value and celebrate the contributions of the filmmakers and all of the incredible talent involved with the movie, including those members of the LGBTQ community,” it further stated. “We are deeply committed to meeting the needs of each individual film while maintaining our values as an inclusive studio.”
