9-1-1 showrunner has spilt the tea on Buck’s future.

On the latest episode of the popular ABC series, viewers were treated to an array of dramatic storylines – from a cheating man sneezing out his intestines to a child getting trapped in a construction pipe.

However, one storyline that left viewers thoroughly gagged was the surprise breakup between Buck (Oliver Stark) and Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr).

After celebrating their six-month anniversary and bonding over their shared romantic connection to Abigail Clark (Connie Briton), the pair’s future seemed bright.

Unfortunately, their happily ever after swiftly came to an end when Buck proposed the idea of Tommy moving in with him.

“I want you to move in with me. I’m ready to take the next step, and I’m not saying let’s get married or engaged, even though we have the right, thanks to the brave people who came before, including you,” he earnestly stated. “All I’m saying is, why be apart when we can be together.”

In response, the LAFD Air Operations pilot denied Buck’s proposition, telling the former that he “knows how this ends.”

“Look, Evan, you’re an incredible guy. Big-hearted. Hot as hell. Funny. Impulsive. But what you’re feeling right now is new. And it’s exciting, and it feels like forever. But you’re still figuring yourself out, and that’s good,” he explained.

“No matter how bad I want it to be, I’m not your last. I’m your first. If I were to move in with you, you wouldn’t mean to; you wouldn’t plan for it, but you’d end up breaking my heart.”

Of course, the #BuckTommy breakup resulted in fans flocking to social media to share their reactions and theories about Buck’s future.

“I thought that breakup came out of nowhere from Tommy’s perspective. Until I realised, Tommy probably sees the way Buck looks at Eddie. That’s how he knows Buck would end up breaking his heart,” one viewer theorised.

Another fan tweeted: “Eddie being the first person Buck runs to after the breakup. All roads lead to BUDDIE YUPPP.”

While some fans are adamant that Buck and Eddie will become canon, the show’s co-creator Tim Minear teased a different direction for the former’s love life.

Speaking with YardBarker, Minear said: “As Tommy said, you’re still figuring yourself out, and his options have increased by 50 of the population. So, knowing Buck, that’s going to be choice overload. He’s got to navigate that with a little self-awareness.”

In addition to discussing Buck’s future, he gave further insight into Tommy’s decision to call off the relationship.

“I think what he felt was exactly what he said: I’m not your last; I’m your first, which is a special thing to be, but as Tommy says, it doesn’t usually end up being the same thing,” he explained.

“And I think based on what we know of Buck, he’s maybe not wrong. Buck’s a little impulsive when he’s feeling a certain kind of way. He’s like move on in, bring your couch. So I just think because Tommy’s a little older and wiser or maybe at some level he feels like he doesn’t deserve Buck, I don’t know.”
