Angelica Ross has revealed that her American Horror Story co-star Emma Roberts has apologised for her transphobic behaviour.
“Thank you @RobertsEmma for calling and apologizing, recognizing your behavior was not that of an ally,” Ross tweeted on Wednesday (20 September).
“I will leave the line open to follow up on your desire to do better and support social justice causes with your platform.”
Ross and Roberts appeared in several scenes together for the ninth season of the horror anthology series, 1984. They respectively played Donna Chambers / Rita R.N. and Brooke Thompson.
The apology came after Ross said on a recent Instagram Live, which went viral on social media, that Roberts misgendered her on the set.
Roberts reportedly said to a crew member that Angelica was “being mean”. The aforementioned crew member, who Angelica referred to as John, responded: “Okay ladies, that’s enough. Let’s get back to work.”
Roberts allegedly hit back, “‘Don’t you mean lady?'”
“And she turns around like this and covers her mouth,” Ross explained, “but can’t see I’m looking at her dead ass in the [on set] camera, like ‘What the f*** did you just say?’”

The actress said her blood was “boiling”: “Because if I say something, it’s going to be me that’s the problem. And I know this because there was someone who spoke up about what she was doing and they got repercussions from it. Not her, they did.
“So when I saw that happen, I was just like I’m done. I’m done. I didn’t speak to that b***h the entire time after that.”
In a seperate tweet, Ross alleged that Roberts’ copied her “voice and laugh” and dropped it “several octaves”.
“I was SHOOK,” said Ross. “She read me for blood with my own words. of course I was self conscious about my voice on set after that.”
The funniest part? We’re all sitting around & I’m copying Cody’s accent. Didn’t know he had one. Emma then copies my voice & laugh and drops it several octaves. I was SHOOK. She read me for blood with my own words 😂 of course I was self conscious about my voice on set after…

Ross made history on 1984 as the first trans actress to secure two regular television roles. She previously appeared on Pose, another trailblazing LGBTQIA+ series created by Ryan Murphy.
The actress later starred in American Horror Story’s 10th season, Double Feature, which did not feature Roberts.
Roberts made her return to the series in the 12th instalment, Delicate, which premiered 20 September on FX.
