Beyhive, stand up! The Renaissance World Tour is coming to a theatre near you!
Over the last five months, the beloved talent has captivated audiences worldwide with the critically acclaimed tour – supporting her equally remarkable seventh studio album, Renaissance.
Featuring seven to eight immersive acts (depending on the show), the beloved concert has made massive waves within the pop culture sphere due to Bey’s incredible vocal performance, its innovative stage design/interludes, talented group of dancers and showstopping cameos – ranging from Blue Ivy, Diana Ross, Kendrick Lamar and Megan Thee Stallion.
In addition to its critical success, The Renaissance World Tour has earned an array of financial achievements, including record-breaking ticket sales and becoming the highest-grossing tour by a female artist in history.
On 30 September, Variety reported that Beyoncé was in final talks with AMC Theatres to distribute the film about the aforementioned tour.
While details were limited, a source told the publication that the project is set to follow the 32-time Grammy winner as she creates the Renaissance album and its accompanying world tour.
The source also revealed that elements from her highly anticipated visual album will also be included in the film.
Fortunately, fans didn’t have to wait too long for Bey to confirm the exciting news.
After the conclusion of her final Renaissance World Tour performance (1 October), the ‘Virgo’s Groove’ singer dropped the first trailer for the concert film titled RENAISSANCE: A Film by Beyoncé.
At the start of the epic trailer, a shot of Bey throwing up a peace sign appears on the screen.
“When I am performing, I am nothing but free,” the talented songstress says in a voice-over. “The goal for this tour was to create a place where everyone is free, and no one is judged, you’re unique.”
As the trailer continues, heartwarming footage of Beyoncé with her three children (Blue, Rumi and Sir) flash across the screen before it transitions to shots of the various Renaissance tour attendees.
“Start over. Start fresh. Create the new. That’s what the Renaissance is about,” Bey exclaims in another voice-over.
Towards the end of the trailer, new shots of Beyoncé performing appear while the ‘Alien Superstar’ outro – featuring acclaimed writer Barbra Ann Teer – plays in the background.
“At any point, they can close their eyes and be right back there and take it with them,” Bey concludes.
Shortly after the teaser was released, fans flocked to all corners of the social media sphere to express their excitement for the upcoming film.
One person wrote: “I knew I woke up for a reason. These #Beyonce movie tickets are secured AND I got my favorite seats-all the way at the end in the last row.”
Another fan posted: “And there you have it, ladies and gents, A F**KING FILM. I’m gagged!”
