Carly Rae Jepsen is back to save pop music once again.

The criminally underrated singer has been delivering bops throughout her career, from viral hits like Call Me Maybe and I Really Like You to the entirety of her magnum opus Emotion, which featured her best song of all time Your Type (no, that’s not up for debate).

Now, three years after the release of her last studio album – we loved Emotion: Side B, but it wasn’t enough to keep us satiated – she’s back with a brand new single called Party For One, and it’s the ode to self-love that we all need in our lives right now.

“If you don’t care about me, I’ll just dance by myself, back on my beat / Party for one / If you don’t care about me, making love to myself, back on my beat,” she sings on the soaring, anthemic chorus. It’ll definitely help you get over that guy who just won’t text you back.

Meanwhile, the music video, which has also been released today, continues the celebration of self-love with a cast of diverse (and occasionally queer) characters who do their best to overcome heartbreak and express their authentic selves.

“To me Party For One is an anthem of what it is to celebrate time with yourself, which is a hard thing for people to really enjoy sometimes, and it’s something I’m learning to do more and more,” explained Carly.

“This song represents a lot of what this album is about for me which is romantic love but self-love too.”

Carly also confirmed that a new album will be out in 2019.
