The first trailer for what could be the last Star Wars movie has landed.

The trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has arrived, and we cannot wait.

The trailer starts off with Rey standing on a desert planet as the voice of her mentor, Luke Skywalker says: “We have passed on all we know. A thousand generations live in you now. But this is your fight.”

As Rey stands in the sands, clutching her lightsaber, a speeder comes toward here, presumably housing Kylo Ren.

The trailer then shifts action, showing other worlds, Kylo Ren and Stormtroopers in battle with the Resistance, Darth Vader’s mask and the return of iconic character Lando Calrissian, as well as BB-8 with another adorable robot, D-O.

As the trailer ends, Luke can be heard saying: “I will always be with you. No one’s really ever gone.” As Luke says this last line, Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewbacca, C-3PO, BB-8 and D-O can be seen staring at what appears to be a partially destroyed Death Star crashed on Ahch-To.

The screen then fades to black, as the laughs of long-thought dead Emperor Palpatine can be heard.

Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac will all reprise their roles, as will Ian McDiarmid. Unreleased footage of Carrie Fisher from the previous two films will be used for her role.

Also joining the cast in undisclosed roles are Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?), Keri Russell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Dominic Monaghan (Lord of the Rings) and former Doctor Who star Matt Smith.
