In her latest film The Miseducation of Cameron Post, Chlöe Grace Moretz plays the teenage titular character who is sent to a gay conversion therapy camp after being caught with another girl.
During her cover interview for the September 2018 issue of Gay Times, the 21-year-old actress explained why she considers this to be her most important work, mainly for it to instigate real social change and law reform around the issue of conversion therapy in America, and across the globe.
As one of Hollywood’s most outspoken LGBTQ advocates, Chlöe is so committed the cause that she held a handful of screenings of The Miseducation of Cameron Post over the summer in Washington DC as a way help along the ongoing lobbying process to have the practice banned across the United States.
The actress met with campaigners and political figures to get the conversation started and to raise awareness of the issue on Capitol Hill.
When we caught up with Chlöe during her trip to London this summer, we asked how those conversation went.

“We still have a lot of ground work to do,” she told us, but was hopeful that they had “turned the fire up” on the issue.
We also asked the star what her message is to homophobes who still believe in conversion therapy and consider being LGBTQ a sin.
“First of all I feel sorry for you if that’s the way you feel about yourself or about gay people,” she said. “But I hope they could maybe watch a movie like this and it could show them a different perspective.”
