Courtney revealed her inspirations following the broadcast of her “bloody gay” The Courtney Act Christmas Extravaganza.
Following the success of The Courtney Act Christmas Extravaganza the drag legend and Celebrity Big Brother winner was inundated with positive comments.
A lot of them were happy to finally see a drag queen on mainstream British television. Responding to these comments, Courtney wrote: “I’ve seen lots of comments about how it was about time there was a drag queen on mainstream TV, naturally I agree, but I’m certainly not the first.
“I stand on the shoulder (don’t worry, I took my heels off) of so many gender bending giants.”
She then reveled her inspirations, writing: “Lily Savage [Paul O’Grady’s drag persona], @JulianClary, Grayson Perry (@Alan_Measles), @DameEdnaEverage, @eddieizzard and of course Danny La Rue!
“All of these amazing performers have paved the way for me and have inspired me in so many ways.”

Earlier this month, Courtney announced that she was releasing a single in a bid to compete for Australia in next year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
In a statement, Courtney said: “A sweet 16 years after Australian Idol, I have the chance to show Australia how I have grown as an artist and performer and I am so excited!
“To compete to represent Oz in Eurovision is second only to being on that stage in Tel Aviv and singing my lungs out for my country. Fight For Love is a dancefloor banger all about coming together and fighting for the things we believe in.
“I think it’s so important to think about the basic human rights of others and to use our collective voices, minds and bodies to lift those people up and bring about change.”
