The drama between Willam and the Drag Race franchise just got messier following this year’s DragCon event.

On 19 July, the beloved drag expo kicked off its three-day extravaganza at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Like in previous years, the event featured an appearance from RuPaul, showstopping performances, gagworthy reunions, meet and greets and sickening one-of-a-kind merch.

While the convention was filled with iconic moments, there was also some major drama behind the scenes involving Drag Race season four alum Willam.

On Saturday (20 July), the ‘Chow Down’ singer claimed that she was kicked out of DragCon following a fan inquiry on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Yep. Listen to the pod this week and watch my YouTube videos of it all happening coming,” she wrote.

A day after uploading her cryptic tweet, Willam shared a short YouTube video that gave some context to the situation.

At the clip’s start, the Race Chaser host is shown walking into the convention centre to a booth titled ‘RuPaul Photo Op’ before it transitions to her seemingly being escorted out by security.

“Kicked out of DragCon. Get ready with me to go home,” Willam says while standing in a parking garage.

The video then transitions to the Los Angeles-based queen talking to security about the situation.

“All this fabulosity. She don’t like me for some reason. She refunded my booth last year. I’m just catching everybody up,” Willam explains.

Toward the end of her video, Willam reveals to fellow Drag Race star Dahlia Sin – who was arriving at the time of her abrupt exit – that she was kicked out of DragCon for being a “risk for the event”.

In the video’s caption, the ‘Boy Is A Bottom’ singer added: “I was escorted out of drag con by 11 cops & security guards because WOW didn’t want me there. Check out ‪@MOMPodcasts‬ for more :).”

While Willam’s video refrained from sharing further information, Drag Race star Nicole Paige Brooks spilt some pipping hot tea about the chaotic moment during an interview with PRIDE.

“Here’s some gossip for you. Willam was with me the whole time, right? As soon as Willam left my side they let me right in. Do you think it was shade toward Willam?” the season two star coyly revealed.

“Because they were like, ‘Hold here. Hold here,’ and then as soon as Willam stepped away, [they said] ‘Come on Nicole.'”

After interviewer Ricky Cornish expressed his surprise that Willam got past security, Nicole joked that there was a notice at the door not to let her or King Tyra into the event.

“Girl, did you see their pictures at security? ‘These two right here, watch out,'” she joked.

In response to the Willam/DragCon drama, Drag Race fans have flocked to social media to share their opinions on the incident.

One person on X wrote: “Reading about the Willam/DragCon mess, and just wow…..is WOW and RuPaul trying to destroy the legacy of Drag Race/Their obsession with @willam is getting fking weird!”

Another fan tweeted: “Let’s be real: Willam walked straight to Ru’s line to start sh*t. Had he just acted like a person and enjoyed #DragCon, it wouldn’t have been an issue. Instead, he walked in there like it was his name on the marquee and got dealt with accordingly. It’s been years, boo. Move on.”

A third fan added: “Love it how drama from season 4 still going on. Willam impact undefeated.”

While fans will have to wait a bit longer for Willam to spill the full tea on Race Chaser and Hot Goss, she made a few more eye-opening claims in a candid post on Instagram.

“There’s a special spot in Hell for people that can’t take the truth being told on them but baby I will ring out those truths like a bell(i). My story has a link to my (free) new YouTube video that u can walk along with me through Drag Con and see them surround me with cops and guards like I was a criminal,” she wrote.

“They trailed me around the convention center and then waited til I went backstage for the Queens Walk to descend and encircle me so they wouldn’t be by the fans and cameras.”
