“Don’t be afraid to WERQ HARD for what u want! HALLELOO!”
Well halleloo! RuPaul’s Drag Race legends Bob the Drag Queen, Shangela and Eureka O’Hara have landed their own HBO series.
Titled We’re Here, the series will follow the three legendary performers as they “inspire and teach their own ‘drag daughters’ to step outside their comfort zone” whilst travelling across the United States and empowering local communities.
Shortly after the announcement, Shangela wrote on Instagram: “It’s Emotional. Theatrical. Oh, it’s gonna be a SHOW! Never give up on your dreams y’all. And don’t be afraid to WERQ HARD for what u want! HALLELOO!”
“I’m so excited to scream it from the roof tops!” said Eureka, while Bob wrote: “The secret is OUT.”
Nine Rosenstein, executive vice president of HBO programming, said in a statement: “Drag is about confidence and self expression. We are so thrilled to showcase the transformative power of the art form with our audience.”
According to Shangela, the series will land on HBO in Spring 2020.
Bob memorably won the eighth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Eureka made her debut on the Emmy-winning series in the next season, but was disqualified on medical grounds after tearing her anterior cruciate ligament.
She made her comeback in season 10 and placed joint runner-up with Kameron Michaels.
Shangela first appeared in the show’s second season, becoming the first eliminated contestant. She ruturned in season three, came in sixth place, and made her long-awaited comeback in the third season of All Stars, where she ranked 3rd/4th.
Last year, Shangela – and season four alum Willam – appeared alongside Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in the Academy Award-winning musical drama, A Star Is Born. Oh and this year, she performed a Beyoncé medley… in front of Beyoncé.
