Plastique Tiara has addressed criticism over her lip-syncing skills on the ninth season of Drag Race All Stars.

The TikTok monarch and Drag Race season 11 alum made her long-awaited return to the franchise this year alongside legendary alumni such as Angeria Paris VanMichaels, Gottmik, Jorgeous, Nina West, Roxxxy Andrews, Shannel and Vanessa Vanjie.

For the first time in the show’s herstory, the contestants are competing for a $200,000 donation to a charity of their choice. As a result of this format change, the season has – like All Stars 7 – ditched eliminations.

Instead, the top two queens of the week lip-sync for their legacy, with the winner earning $10,000 for their charity, a Beautiful Benefactress Badge and the power to cut off one of the safe queens from winning a badge the following week.

The three queens who secure the most badges at the end of the season will move on to the top three.

As of episode eight, Plastique is one of the frontrunners of All Stars 9 with four maxi-challenge wins and four Beautiful Benefactress Badges. Despite her slayage, Plastique has failed to win a single lip-sync smackdown.

On social media, fans have accused Plastique of not knowing all the words to the lip-sync songs, which she recently addressed in an interview with Zach Sang.

Laughing off the criticism, Plastique said: “When you’re focused on so many things in the competition, you’re writing jokes at four a.m., and then you’re having to make a costume at the same time, stoning your looks and all this stuff, sometimes our minds get a little…

“But I will say, each of us have our performance styles, and when I do not move my mouth on the runway, it’s intentional. I will always move my mouth to a female vocal, so if you watch it back, you’ll see why.”

Plastique continued to explain that she refused to “move my mouth” if it’s to a male singer or rapper, “because my character is not that way.”
