“The bitch is back.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Star and fan-favourite Russian hooker, Katya Zamolodchikova, has announced her return to the spotlight following her hiatus earlier this year.
The season seven contestant told fans back in January that she will be taking a break from drag due to mental health issues.
“It was time to take a vacation, because my health, the drugs, my brain, that wasn’t good,” said Katya.
“But I am not crazy, you understand of course. I’m a language student first, an artist second, a drag queen third. Health is the most important thing for me.”
She reiterated to fans: “I’m telling you this with a sense of urgency. I’m not dying. Let me tell you the truth. I’m not dying, I want to live. I’m a drug addict, but I’m sober. Today, and yesterday. And before. But I need to take a vacation, because I want to survive, like Gloria Gaynor.”
In a tweet that has now amassed 91k likes, Katya announced her return with a gif of Michelle Pfeiffer in her iconic role as Catwoman in Batman Returns, alongside the caption: “The Bitch is Back.”

It is currently unknown whether Katya will be resuming the tour dates she had scheduled for this year, due to New Alex Theatre’s announcement that her UK tour – An Evening With Katya Zamolodchikova: Help Me, I’m Dying – had officially been postponed until 2019.

Season 10 of RuPaul’s Drag Race premieres 22 March (this Thursday) on VH1, and on UK Netflix the day after.
Mama Ru said: “While preparing for season 10, I realized that one of our contestants was 11 years-old when we first launched Drag Race.
“The fact that we’re still here and still going strong is because of our talented queens. They are the heart and soul of the series. And as they continue to evolve and push the boundaries of drag, so does Drag Race.”
The season will feature 90 minute episodes and the return of Untucked on television, to celebrate ten years since Drag Race premiered.
