Drag Race Thailand just crowned the franchise’s first ever trans woman, and RuPaul guest starred

Drag Race Thailand has crowned its winner!

Angele Anang (real name Anchalee Anang) beat her fellow competitors Kana Warrior and Kandy Zyanide over the weekend (5 April), and made HERstory by becoming Drag Race’s first ever trans winner.

The fierce queen’s victory came as no surprise because she swept the entire competition, winning five challenges in a row (which no Drag Race contestant has ever done), and six overall, beating BenDeLaCreme’s record in All Stars 3.

Zyanide is also a trans woman, meaning there were two trans queens in the top three, a feat that hasn’t been accomplished on the American iteration. Throughout the show’s ten seasons – and four editions of All Stars – there has only been one trans performer in the top three, Peppermint, who made runner-up on season nine.

Drag Race Thailand’s co-host, Pangina Heals, praised Angele after her win, writing on social media: “You worked hard and you showed the world you are an amazing artist and an amazing human being.”

During the gag-worthy finale, RuPaul made another guest appearance on the spin-off via a video (which fans suspect is on the set of Drag Race UK), where she advised the top three: “Greetings Thailand, Mama Ru loves you and misses you.

“Angele Anang, Kandy Zyanide, Kana Warrior, no matter what happens next, you are and will always be Drag Race royalty. You have made Mama Ru so very proud. The time has come to crown our queen, and may the best woman win!”
