Back in June, regular panellist Graham Norton told GAY TIMES that season four is “really impressive” and boasts “some of the best queens we’ve ever seen”.
Although the presenter was unable to divulge much about the new season because he’s “totally under oath”, he described it as a “post-COVID season”.
“It was very hard for the [season three] queens in COVID because they weren’t making any money and lots of the dressmakers had stopped working,” teased Graham. “I think it was really hard during COVID, so this is definitely a post-COVID season and it’s great. You can look forward to it. You don’t need to worry!”
The third season of Drag Race UK memorably saw Krystal Versace succeed The Vivienne and Lawrence Chaney as Britain’s Next Drag Superstar.
Again, while not much is known about the season so far, RuPaul did confirm the first special guest star in a recent appearance on late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live: Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham.
“Now we know each other… because?” Ru questioned Waddingham before she replied: “[Because] I’m a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.”
After receiving roaring applause from the audience, the Emmy Award-winning actress then discussed the excitement she felt while filming the show.
“I mean, I was giddy as all hell about that. Michelle [Visage] will tell you, I was like, ‘Can’t believe I’m here,’” she teased.
Ru then asked if Waddingham was “haunted” by her appearance on the show, to which she responded: “I was slightly haunted by the fact that I decided to… that that was the day to run out in a pale pink latex rubber dress.”
When asked if she would wear her mysterious dress again, the 47-year-old actor said “hell no” before stating it was only for her Drag Race appearance.
“If I’m gonna trot this look out, it’s going to be once,” she added.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK will air later this year on BBC iPlayer.
