Drag Race winner Yvie Oddly has revealed that her All Stars 7 experience “was pretty gruesome from the start”.
The highly anticipated instalment featured very little negative critiques from the judges and saw none of the contestants go home, with RuPaul instead adopting a points-based system.
During her run on the season, Yvie managed to win one challenge and rack up a total of two stars by the finale.
Fans have praised how far she has come since her first appearance on the show, with many admiring her heightened runways and lip-syncing abilities, among other things.
However, with All Stars 7 now being over and Jinkx Monsoon being crowned the winner, Yvie has spoken out about the “REAL journey” the queens experienced.
“I truly wish you could’ve seen even a quarter of the REAL journey we experienced together (instead of all the strategy bs),” she wrote on Instagram. “But I guess that’s what I get for participating in a ‘celebratory’ season of a global reality television franchise. In the end I’m happy you all enjoyed our hard work and harder play.”
The star further explained their points in a follow-up post.
“TBH my experience was pretty gruesome from the start,” Yvie told fans. “And while you can be assured that ‘none of that will make the edit’ it doesn’t change anything in the moment. Going back I learned a lot about myself, as I was forced to question whether or not I fit into this specific world (even as a winner).”Yvie further criticised the way the season was edited: “But instead of showing ANY of that struggle (or really any reason for me to be there) I’ve been lobotomized and presented as some goofy big-dicked mascot, bravely laughing through my chronic illness, happy to be along for the ride.”
She rounded out her statement with a heartwarming comment about her fellow competitors.
“The only part of my truth that was shown was how the girls were my rock in this competition, and how happy it’s made me to share any more of my art with you…so for that I’m truly thankful.”
All Stars 7 is streaming now on WOW Presents Plus.
