Elton John has postponed a tour date due to being “extremely unwell”.
The pop music legend said it was “with the heaviest heart” that he had to cancel a show scheduled for Saturday night in Indianapolis as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which features over 300 concerts around the world.
“To my dear fans in Indianapolis, it is with the heaviest heart that I’m forced to deliver the news that I am extremely unwell and therefore unable to perform at Bankers Life Fieldhouse tonight,” he wrote.
“I absolutely hate to let my fans down, but I owe it to you to put on the best show possible and unfortunately that’s simply not possible. The date will be rearranged for March 26th 2020, and I promise I will deliver the show you deserve.
“Thank you so much for your support and understanding.”
Fortunately, the singer was able to return to the stage for his Nashville show at Bridgestone Arena on Monday night and received rave reviews from critics and fans.
As well as embarking on a farewell tour, Elton recently released his autobiography Me, in which the singer revisits a number of encounters with fellow A-list celebrities – including his feud with Queen of Pop Madonna.
“I used to make fun of [Madonna] for lip-synching on stage, but the problem really started when she ran [Lady] Gaga down on an American chat show,” he wrote.
“I couldn’t see why she was so ungracious and nasty about it, rather than taking it as a compliment… particularly when she claims to be a champion for women.”
