Lukas Gage joked about short relationships a month after Chris Appleton filed for divorce.
Back in April, the Euphoria star and celebrity hairstylist tied the knot in Las Vegas at the famous Little White Chapel.
According to Page Six, their union was an intimate affair, having only six guests, including Kim Kardashian, who officiated the wedding.
Before their marriage, the couple kept a relatively low profile, with both industry talents remaining coy on their relationship.
Unfortunately, their love story didn’t last, with Appleton filing for divorce in November after six months of marriage.
In court documents obtained by Today, the hairstylist cited “irreconcilable differences” as the downfall of their relationship.
Appleton and Gage also signed a prenuptial agreement, waiving any need for spousal support and allowing them to keep their individual assets.
Since that fateful day, the pair have remained relatively mum on their relationship… until now.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Gage seemingly poked fun at his short-lived marriage while hosting a private party for the luxury watchmaker Longines.
“This company [has] been around for 190 years supporting tradition, class, timekeeping and style,” he said.
“I personally think that’s really interesting because some people can’t even last 190 days in a relationship.”
Towards the end of his speech, Gage affirmed that he was “totally kidding.”
While Appleton has refrained from releasing his own statement about the divorce, a source close to the celebrity influencer told TMZ that it wasn’t an easy decision for him to make.
Aside from delivering some dark humor about his marriage, Gage has remained booked and busy, recently making waves for his film Down Low.
The film follows newly single Gary, played by Zachary Quinto, who has a chance encounter with a “spirited and boundary-free sex worker” Cameron (Gage).
After experiencing his first same-sex encounter with Cameron, the two embark on a zany adventure, with the latter showing him the ropes of what it means to be gay.
In an interview with The Messenger, the film’s director Rightor Doyle praised Gage and his character, which The White Lotus star created with co-writer Phoebe Fisher.
“I thinks it’s quintessential Lukas. It’s obviously this character, Cameron, who is so out of the box. But here are some parts of Lukas that I like the best,” Doyle explained.
