Euphoria star Colman Domingo has signed on to play Batman in a new limited series.
Back in 2022, DC fans immersed themselves in the hit serialised Spotify podcast Batman Unburied.
Created by David S. Goyer, the ten-episode series follows the caped crusader (played by Black Panther’s Winston Duke) as he tries to stop The Harvester from enacting his sinister plan against Gotham and its residents.
The critically acclaimed series also featured a different take on Bruce Wayne/Batman, who in this universe is a Black man and forensic pathologist.
Bruce’s parents are also still alive, which is a significant difference from the original Batman continuity.
Following its successful release, Spotify announced in March that a spin-off of Batman Unburied – titled The Riddler: Secrets In The Dark – would be heading to the platform, with Hasan Minhaj reprising his role as the titular villain.
Over the last few months, the streaming service has remained tight-lipped about the show and its premiere date until now.
Fortunately on 21 September, the streamer revealed new information about the forthcoming project, including the exciting casting of Domingo as the Dark Knight.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will follow Batman and Edward Nygma, aka The Riddler, as they investigate the mysterious killings of Gotham’s most prominent villains.
The Riddler: Secrets In The Dark will also see the return of Gina Rodriguez as Barbra Gordon, Jim Pirri as Arnold Flass, Jason Isaacs as Alfred Pennyworth, Bri Giger as Summer Gleeson and Ashley Burch as Vicki Vale.

In response to the news, fans flocked to social media to express their excitement over the Zola actor’s casting.
One person on X (formerly known as Twitter) wrote: “He has such a great voice. This is awesome.”
Another fan commented: “Congratulations @colmandomingo for landing this Batman is one of my favorite comic book characters and to hear that your doing the audio has me excited!”
The Riddler: Secrets In The Dark is set to premiere on 10 October and will feature eight episodes.
Alongside his upcoming Batman role, Domingo is set to appear in three new upcoming projects.
In November, his film Rustin is scheduled to premiere on Netflix.
The biopic is set to follow the life of gay civil rights activist Bayard Rustin and how he organised the historic 1963 March on Washington DC – which saw 250,000 people gather in front of the Lincoln Memorial to protest racial discrimination.
Domingo is also starring in the Netflix series titled The Madness.
Lastly, his film Sing Sing was recently acquired by A24 for theatrical distribution following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, per Deadline.
