Former Major League Baseball (MLB) player TJ House and his fiancé Ryan Neitzel have tied the knot.
Back in 2022, the former Toronto Blue Jays player made headlines when he came out in a heartwarming statement to social media.
“I’ve struggled my entire life with being comfortable in my own skin. I have purposefully distanced myself from people for the sake of trying to protect myself,” he wrote on Facebook.
“It’s disheartening how one simple thing can change an individual’s opinion of you in a matter of seconds. It has taken me years to wake up every morning and tell myself that you are loved for you, the one that’s deep down inside that you’ve never truly let out.”
Towards the end of his statement, House said that the passing of the historic Respect For Marriage Act inspired him to come out before he revealed his exciting engagement to Neitzel.
“It allows Ryan Neitzel and I to come together and create something beautiful. It gives me the confidence to get engaged to the person I love (he said Yes!), to marry them,” he revealed.
“I have a wonderful fiance who challenges me daily to become a better person.”
Since announcing the news, the adorable lovebirds have remained mum on their wedding festivities… until now.
On 2 April, the openly gay former athlete revealed on Instagram that he and Neitzel got married on 29 March in New Orleans, Louisiana.

“‘It’s that can’t eat, can’t sleep, reach for the stars, over the fence, World Series kind of love.’ 3/29/24,” his caption read alongside a handful of romantic photos from the event.
In one snapshot, the handsome couple are shown serving face in white and black tuxes, while another photo features House’s mother pinning a beautifully decorated corsage on his breast pocket.
Lastly, the carousal included individual photos of the grooms and a group shot of the married couple walking in the street with their wedding party.
Neitzel also celebrated their big day on Instagram with his own post alongside an inspiring quote from his best friend, Daniel Broxmeyer.
“Marriage is one of the greatest opportunities to enter into a life of limitless possibilities. And, in moments of doubt or despair, you find comfort knowing that you are not alone – that there is someone who will always stand by you, no matter what,” the caption read.
