Kim Cattrall parties with a bevvy of queers – including Canada’s Drag Race winner Priyanka – in the first official stills from Netflix’s upcoming LGBTQ+ series Glamorous. (We! Are! On! Board!)
Originally developed as a pilot for The CW, Glamorous stars singer-songwriter and actor Miss Benny as Marco Mejia, a gender non-conforming queer person who lands a job at a cosmetics company.
Cattrall plays Madolyn Addison, “CEO, entrepreneur and founder of Glamorous Cosmetics and former supermodel” who “built one of the top cosmetic companies in the world from the ground up”.
The official synopsis reads: “However, something’s happening of late. The company isn’t just slipping, it’s plummeting – like it’s being sabotaged from the inside. Not about to let that happen, Madolyn hires Marco right out of high school to be her summer intern.
“She has a plan – she wants him to be her eyes and ears, to make friends – and find out what’s going on behind her back, to discover “what they’re hiding and what they’re stealing.”
“In exchange, she’ll teach Marco everything she knows – but she warns him – “This business isn’t all glitter and glamour and neither is life.””
The cast also includes Zane Phillips (Fire Island), Jade Payton (Dynasty), Michael Hsu (Pretty Smart), Ayesha Harris (Daisy Jones and the Six) and Graham Parkhurst (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds).
Phillips has been cast as Chad, the “devoted son to Madolyn and the Director of Sales for her beauty empire, who is caught in a never-ending quest to live up to his mother’s expectations.”
Payton plays Venetia, Madolyn’s “ambitious and chic” first assistant who becomes an ally to Marco, “showing him not only how to navigate the office, but queer Brooklyn nightlife as well”.
Rosen is Ben, a graphic designer at Glamorous who is “inspired to stumble out of his comfort zone” after meeting Marco.
Harris also plays a graphic designer called Brit, while Parkhurst will embody a “confident, self-proclaimed jock” named Parker who “symbolises unobtainable gay cis-male perfection”.
Diana Maria Riva (Gordita Chronicles), Lisa Gilroy (Jury Duty) and Mark Deklin (Good Fight) round out the cast, while guest stars include Joel Kim Booster (Fire Island), Matt Rogers (I Love That For You) and Priyanka.
Glamorous is expected to premiere later this year.
