From American Horror Story to Will & Grace.
Gus Kenworthy has filmed an appearance for the final season of Will & Grace.
The Olympic athlete announced the news yesterday with two photos from the set alongside the caption: “I had a blast yesterday getting to film a little guest spot on the last season of this iconic gay show! Thank you to all who made it happen!”
Nicole Sullivan, Brian Jordan Alvarez and Miss Coco Peru will also appear in the episode.
Earlier this year, the executive producers of Will & Grace confirmed that its upcoming 11th season will be its last. The show originally concluded in 2006 after its eighth season but returned for two more seasons in 2017.
Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes all reprised their roles, and the show was met with continued critical acclaim. However, it failed to match the amount of viewers as the original run.
Max Mutchnick, David Kohan and James Burrows said in a statement: “We think of the Will & Grace [revival] episodes the way Karen Walker thinks of martinis — 51 is not enough, 53 is too many.
“That is why, after consulting with the cast, we all have decided this will be the final season of Will & Grace.”
George Cheeks and Paul Telegdy, NBC Entertainment co-chairmen, added: “When NBC had the opportunity to reconnect this amazing cast and creative team, we jumped at the chance.
“The impact and legacy of Will and Grace simply can’t be overstated, both as a true game-changer in the portrayal of the LGBTQ community and as one of the finest comedies in television history.”
It hasn’t been confirmed whether Gus will be playing himself or an original character. Last month, the star made his acting debut in 1984, the ninth season of Ryan Murphy’s long-running horror anthology series, American Horror Story.
1984 follows five teenagers who become camp counsellors for the summer to escape the wrath of a Los Angeles serial killer called The Night Stalker – only to end up faced with Mr Jingles, who slaughtered nine people at the camp 14 years prior.
Gus stars alongside Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Cody Fern, DeRon Horton, Matthew Morrison, Zach Villa and Angelica Ross. It is the first season without series mainstays Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson.
