Congratulations are in order for Mew Suppasit and Tul Pakorn, who are now officially engaged.

On 24 October, the adorable lovebirds attended a press conference for Mew’s new single ‘Absence.’

While it appeared that the music event would be business as usual, with many fans and media in attendance, things took a romantic turn when Mew asked Tul to join him on stage.

“Like I told you, the purpose of this song is for the person who has come to fulfil my empty heart. Before I started making the song, I had a talk with the songwriter, and my brief was, ‘I want a song that I will use for my marriage proposal,” he explained, according to a translation from GMA Entertainment.

Following his heartwarming speech, Mew got down on one knee and officially popped the question to a visibly surprised Tul – who accepted and delivered his own proposal.

“Never thought it would come this fast, but I once thought about it. If it happens, I will kneel down and propose back as well… We still haven’t informed my mom,” Tul tearfully exclaimed.

Of course, it didn’t take long for the lovebird’s extremely adorable engagement to go viral on social media.

One fan on Twitter/X wrote: “Can we talk about how Mew Suppasit is the biggest lover boy ever. He wrote a song about marriage proposal, asked Tul to be in the mv and on the press conference for the song he proposed to him. He is INSANE.”

Another person tweeted: “I’M CRYING RIGHT NOWOH. MY. GOSH!!!! THEY’RE ENGAGED.”

A third fan added: “It’s the way Tul also went looking for a ring, as he also planned on proposing to Mew on the day he plans to do so. Congratulations, MewTul! Finally engaged. This feels like one of those romantic movies I have watched.”

The popular Thai actors, affectionately known as MewTul, first confirmed their relationship on a July episode of My Ambulove – following months of speculation.

During the program, the happy couple opened up about the first time they met at a modelling event and how their friendship blossomed into a romantic relationship.

“We have to admit that society has changed a lot in a good way, though. Thank you everyone. Thank you society. Thank you everyone who is ready to make our society a better place in every aspect,” Mew said during the program.

“I’m at a point where I can overcome how I have to reveal myself or anything. I got over it already. Everyone deserves to be loved in his or her own way. It’s such a good moment. I’m glad to see my perfect match.”

Mew and Tul’s engagement comes a few months after Thailand made history as the first nation in Southeast Asia to legalise same-sex marriage.

On 18 June, 130 senators voted in favour (with only four opposing the bill) to enact marriage equality, which would make Thailand the third territory in Asia after Nepal and Taiwan to do so.

Two months later, King Maha Vajiralongkorn endorsed the legislation, resulting in it officially being written into law. Starting January 2025, LGBTQIA+ couples will be able to register their marriages, per CNN.
