Attention Heartstopper enthusiasts! Netflix has dropped an exciting new character reveal.
On 3 October, viewers will finally be reunited with the Truman Grammar and Higgs School for Girls gang for the show’s highly-anticipated third season.
Picking up where season two left off, the new batch of episodes will follow Charlie (Joe Locke) as he tries to “tell Nick that he loves him,” while Nick (Kit Connor) “also has something important to say to Charlie”.
The synopsis adds: “As the summer holiday ends and the months race on, the friends begin to realise that the school year will come with both its joys and its challenges.
“As they learn more about each other and their relationships, plan social events and parties and start thinking about university choices, everyone must learn to lean on those they love when life doesn’t go to plan.
With Heartstopper‘s premiere date swiftly approaching, Netflix treated fans to an exciting season three teaser, which introduces a new character named Michael Holden (Darragh Hand).
At the clip’s start, Michael gives Charlie an adorable cat figurine, claiming that the two share a similar vibe.
“This is for you. I found him at a charity shop, and he just had your energy, so I figured he belonged with you,” he states. “Also, it made me sad seeing him sitting on a shelf on his own.”
However, before Michael can continue explaining the purchase, Charlie’s sister Tori (Jenny Walser) interrupts the exchange, leading the former upstairs to her room.
When Tao (Will Gao) and Elle (Yasmin Finney) inquire about the nature of Tori and Michael’s relationship, Charlie reveals that they met a few months ago.
“She won’t confirm whether they’re dating or not,” he adds, before playfully meowing at his friends while holding the figurine.

Michael isn’t the only new character that will be introduced in Heartstopper season three.
The new episodes are also set to feature Jonathan Bailey as Jack Maddox, Hayley Atwell as Aunt Diane, Eddie Marian as Geoff, and Jensen Clayden as Charlie and Tori’s little cousin, Oliver Spring.
In an interview with Tudum by Netflix, creator Alice Oseman teased that the forthcoming season will “feel very different, and people will be surprised”.
“This doesn’t mean that the series will stray from its core message – in fact, the first episode of season 3 is titled ‘Love,'” they explained.
Oseman continued to reveal that Charlie’s mental health issues will “drive the story“ in season three, and that viewers can also expect the characters to delve into more serious topics such as “sex“ and “university ambitions”.
