You better start those mothertucking engines because the 15th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race is almost here.
Featuring the largest cast in the franchise’s herstory with 16 contestants – including TikTok twin superstars Sugar and Spice and Kerri Colby’s drag mother (and Miss Continental winner) Sasha Colby – the series premieres 6 January.
That’s not all: the queens will compete for a franchise-high cash prize (bar All Stars 7, the first-ever winners’ season) of $200,000. In another first for the series, the new season will air on MTV in the United States.
With Drag Race’s move from Logo to VH1, and then Paramount+ for All Stars and MTV for season 15, UK viewers have been – in the word of Jaida Essence Hall – “confusion” as to where and when the new season will premiere, especially with Netflix no longer acting as the UK’s hub for content.
As is the case with season 14 and the seventh season of All Stars, however, new episodes of Drag Race will be available in the UK via the streamer of all things drag, WOW Presents Plus, from 2am GMT on Saturday 7 January. (You can subscribe to WOW here.)
Drag Race returns with a two-part season premiere, which will see Ariana Grande make her first appearance as a guest judge since season seven.
Additional guest stars include Ali Wong, Amandla Stenberg, Harvey Guillén, Hayley Kiyoko, Julia Garner, Janelle Monáe, Maren Morris, Megan Stalter and Orville Peck.
Ts Madison, who memorably appeared on two episodes of season 13, has joined the series as a regular and rotating judge on the panel.
