The BBC has revealed new images of the second season of Time, featuring Bella Ramsey as Kelsey, shown in the late stages of pregnancy.
Ramsey rose to fame as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones, before gaining notoriety and critical acclaim earlier this year as Ellie in HBO’s post-apocalyptic drama The Last of Us.
The praised drama presents a “moving and high-stakes portrayal of life inside a women’s prison,” the three-part series will also star Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who) and Tamara Lawrance (The Silent Twins), with Siobhan Finneran reprising her role from season one as prison chaplain Marie-Louise.
Ramsey, Whittaker and Lawrance will respectively play Kelsey, Orla and Abi, three new inmates who “face an unfamiliar world” as they arrive at Carlingford Prison on the same day.
“But even with the ever-present threat of violence within its walls, they discover that an unexpected sense of community, and a shared understanding, still might be possible,” the show’s synopsis reveals.
The three-part series is written by multi-award winning Jimmy McGovern and Helen Black, and is directed by Andrea Harkin.
Time season one can be streamed on BBC iPlayer. Season two is coming to BBC One and BBC iPlayer this Autumn.

Ramsey came out earlier this year as non-binary in an interview with The New York Times. They explained that their gender has “always been very fluid”.
“Someone would call me ‘she’ or ‘her’ and I wouldn’t think about it, but I knew that if someone called me ‘he’ it was a bit exciting,” said the star.
“I’m very much just a person. Being gendered isn’t something that I particularly like, but in terms of pronouns, I really couldn’t care less.”
They will return for the second season of The Last of Us. Read everything you need to know about the upcoming season here.
