Music superstar Kehlani admitted that an LGBTQ+ Google Doc helped them come to terms with their lesbian identity.

Throughout the course of their career, the Can I singer has remained an open book regarding their sexuality and coming out journey.

Back in 2018, the talented singer revealed to fans that they were queer after receiving inquiries from their followers on social media.

“Not bi, not straight. I’m attracted to women, men REALLY attracted to queer men, non-binary people, intersex people, trans people,” they continued.

“Lil poly pansexual papi, hello good morning. Does that answer your questions?”

However a few years after their queer admission, Kehlani updated fans that they identify as a lesbian

“You wanna know what’s new about me? I finally know I’m a lesbian!” they told their fans in a 2021 Instagram Live video.

Since that fateful day, the Gangsta singer has continued to open up about their journey and what spawned their gay awakening.

In a recent interview on Jake Paul and Mike Majlak’s podcast IMPAULSIVE, Kehlani revealed that the popular “Am I A Lesbian” Google Doc helped them come to terms with their lesbian identity.

The controversial 31-page document – which was initially released in the mid-2010s – explores “compulsory heterosexuality” and is broken into different sections of questions relating to “Early interest in women,” “Sex and intimacy with men,” and “the ‘straight’ version of you.”

“I read the f**k out of this Google Doc, and when I had to sit and analyse why I was still dating men, none of it had to do with being in love,” Kehlani explained.

“None of it had to do with these feelings that I am supposed to feel – love and care and deep emotion.

“As soon as I said, ‘I’m not doing that anymore,’ I came out. My relationships and my ability to feel deeply for anybody I was romantically with was like, ‘oh, I have been missing this my whole life.”

Before coming to their realisation, the Grammy nominee thought they were “somehow broken.”

“And the ability to dissociate in a relationship and during sex and with connection, I thought maybe I had been through too much, or I wasn’t meeting the right people, I kept trying,” they said.

Towards the end of their interview, Kehlani gushed about their newfound emotional clarity.

“Once I completely was like, ‘yes, let me accept myself,’ it was like these floodgates opened. I feel like I experience emotions deeper across the board now,” they added.
