Keke Palmer and SZA are “two broke friends with one desperate plan” in the hilarious trailer for One of Them Days.
Due for release in January, the buddy comedy stars the pop culture icons as Dreux (Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA), best friends and roommates who find themselves involved in various hijinks after the latter’s boyfriend spends their rent money.
From car chases of the Fast and the Furious variety to a gory blood donation and electrocution (there’s a bit of attempted murder in there too), it’s truly One of Them Days for a comedy duo we never expected but need and deserve.
Directed by Lawrence Lamont and written by Syreeta Singleton, the film marks the acting debut of SZA, the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter behind hits such as ‘Good Days’, ‘Kill Bill’ and ‘Snooze’.
For Palmer, who is releasing her new book Master of Me next month, One of Them Days will be her first leading role since her widely acclaimed performance in Jordan Peele’s sci-fi horror Nope (2022).
Last year, the Scream Queens favourite made history as the first Black woman to win the Primetime Emmy Award for ‘Outstanding Host for a Game Show’.
The stars joining Palmer and SZA are as follows – iconic names incoming: Lil Rel Howery (Get Out), Janelle James (Abbott Elementary), Vanessa Bell Calloway (Coming to America), Keyla Monterroso Mejia (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Maude Apatow (Euphoria) and Katt Williams (Wild ‘n Out).
One of Them Days will be released 24 January.
