The nominations for Golden Globes’ 2019 ceremony have been announced.
Lady Gaga has received a nomination for Best Actress in a Drama for her critically-acclaimed turn in A Star Is Born, but faces stiff competition from Glenn Close, Rosamund Pike, Melissa McCarthy and Nicole Kidman.
The musical drama also received nominations for Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director – Motion Picture, Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama and Best Original Song – Motion Picture.
Lucas Hedges has landed a nod for Boy Erased, which tells the story of Jared (Hedges) – the son of a Baptist pastor – who is outed to his parents (Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe), and forced to attend a conversion therapy program.
Boy Erased is also nominated for Best Original Song – Motion Picture for Revelation by Troye Sivan and Jónsi.
Freddie Mercury biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody – which has grossed over 500 million at the box office – is in contention for Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.
Ryan Murphy’s lauded limited series, The Assassination of Gianna Versace, has been nominated for four awards, including Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for Darren Criss.
His other series, Pose, which boasts the largest cast of trans actors in TV history, scored nominations for Best Television Series – Drama and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama for Billy Porter.
The 76th annual Golden Globe Awards air Sunday 6 January on NBC at 8pm ET, and will be hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg.
