Madonna continues to push the boundaries of live performance.
Following the release of her Latin-infused, summer-ready new single Medellín, the Queen of Pop took to the Billboard Music Awards stage on Wednesday night to deliver the debut live performance of the track, and it was incredible.
The show-stopping performance started with a minimal, outdoors set which saw Madonna sing with holograms of herself in four different looks from her Madame X campaign, before joining collaborator Maluma and dancers on stage for a party in a bar.
Watch the performance, which is rumoured to have cost $5 million, below.
Last month, the legendary pop superstar dropped a mysterious new trailer for her upcoming 14th studio album, which introduced the world to her new alter-ego Madame X, and it’s already iconic.

“Madame X is a secret agent, travelling around the world, changing identities, fighting for freedom, bringing light to dark places,” Madonna says in the video, which sees her serve a series of lewks in black and blonde hair.
“Madame X is a dancer, a professor, a head of state, a housekeeper, an equestrian, a prisoner, a student, a mother, a child, a teacher, a nun, a singer, a saint, a whore, and a spy in the house of love.”

Madonna’s new album Madame X is released 14 June.
