Netflix has shared the release date and a first look for Mae Martin’s upcoming comedy special.
According to the streamer, Mae Martin: SAP “reflects on a world off its axis, from a mythical moose encounter to the gender spectrum in Beauty and the Beast”.
The special, which marks Martin’s hour-long stand-up debut for Netflix, premieres globally on Netflix on 28 March. It was filmed last December at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver, Canada and is produced by All Things Comedy.
SAP was directed by Broad City and A League of Their Own star Abbi Jacobson. As well as serving as co-creator, writer, and executive producer on both series, Jacobson also directed four episodes of the former Comedy Central classic.
Martin previously made their Netflix comedy special debut with a half-hour set in 2019 with COMEDIANS of the world.
They also performed in the Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration special at Netflix Is A Joke: The Festival, which featured comedians such as Bob the Drag Queen, Sandra Bernhard and Margaret Cho.
Martin is best-known for writing and starring in the Netflix comedy series Feel Good, for which they received a BAFTA TV Award nomination.
They later starred alongside Kaley Cuoco in the second season of HBO Max’s lauded dark comedy The Flight Attendant.
