Margot Robbie has broken her silence on whether she’s producing a movie based on Britney Spears’ memoir.

On 24 October, the ‘Gimme More’ singer released her highly anticipated book The Woman in Me.

Described as “a brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope,” the emotional memoir dives into Spears’ public breakdown and thirteen-year conservatorship, her toxic relationship with NSYNC singer Justin Timberlake, and the gendered double standards of the music industry.

Since its release, the 275-page tell-all has received universal acclaim from fans and critics, with many praising the Grammy-winning talent for her fearlessness and taking back her power.

In addition to receiving acclaim, rumours have started to swirl that various A-List actors and their production companies have been eyeing the rights to adapt the emotional memoir – including Robbie’s LuckyChap Production Company.

According to Page Six, a source revealed that talks are in the very early stages and options are being weighed, stating: “It’s only beginning to take shape.”

While the Birds of Prey star refrained from giving a comment to the publication, she did address the rumours while attending the 2023 Variety Power of Women event in Los Angeles.

“No, I’m just hearing that tonight. It’s not true,” Robbie told Access Hollywood on the red carpet.

When asked if she would ever play the Princess of Pop in a film adaptation of The Woman in Me, she reiterated that there was no truth to her involvement, adding: “It’s not true, it’s not true.”

Robbie isn’t the only big-name celeb to take an interest in a potential film or TV series based on the ‘Lucky’ singer.

According to The Ankler, Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine company and Brad Pitt’s Plan B are all vying for the chance to secure the rights.

While we’ll have to wait and see if The Woman in Me will get the silver-screen treatment, her book has already featured a major Hollywood star.

For the audiobook version, Spears tapped Oscar-nominated acting talent Michelle Williams to narrate her story.

“This book has been a labor of love and all the emotions that come with it. Reliving everything has been exciting, heart-wrenching, and emotional, to say the least,” she explained to PEOPLE ahead of the book’s release.

“For those reasons, I will only be reading a small part of my audiobook. I am so grateful to the amazing Michelle Williams for reading the rest of it.”

In an additional statement to the publication, the Brokeback Mountain star expressed support for the pop legend: “I stand with Britney.”
