The UK’s ultimate pop extravaganza, which saw over 60,000 festival-goers, returned for a sixth year with an insane line-up of pop icons and queer trailblazers.
On Saturday (3 June), Rowland closed the mainstage with classics such as Commander, Stole and Love Takes Over, as well as a medley of Destiny’s Child’s anthems including Soldier, Bootylicious and Lose My Breath.
The day also featured hits from Girls Aloud alum Nadine Coyle, FLO, Beverley Knight – with surprise guest Adam Lambert – Aqua, Natasha Bedingfield, Kelis, Jamelia, Samantha Mumba and Soul II Soul.
Accompanied by the Trans Voices Choir, Years & Years headlined the second and final day (4 June) with fan-favourites Eyes Shut, King and Desire. Jake Shears joined Olly Alexander for a duet of the Scissor Sisters’ camp classic Filthy/Gorgeous, before collaborating with Girls Aloud stars Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh.
Additional Sunday performers included Róisín Murphy, Jake Shears, Confidence Man, Dagny, Gloria Groove, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Vengaboys and Lisa Scott-Lee, alongside rising talent such as Tom Rasmussen, Tove Stryke and Leo Kalyan.
As always, Mighty Hoopla continued to celebrate drag and cabaret artists with shows from The Cocoa Butter Club, Faggamuffin, Plyglamous, Danny Beard, Bourgeois & Marice and Lady Lloyd. Additionally, dance artists were spotlighted with sets from Radio 1 DJs Jaguar and Arielle Free, Kiddy Smile, The 2 Bears, Joshua James and Midland.
