Mighty Hoopla, the UK’s ultimate pop music extravaganza, welcomed over 60,000 festival-goers for its seventh (and most iconic) year (so far!) of industry icons and queer trailblazers.

Returning for another weekend at Brockwell Park, London (1-2 June), the inclusive and diverse spectacle witnessed killer sets from legendary pop acts such as Nelly Furtado, Jessie Ware, Rita Ora, Jojo Siwa, The Veronicas, Cat Burns, Alison Goldfrapp and Alesha Dixon.

More insane star power incoming: En Vogue, Bananarama, B*witched, Cher Lloyd, Louise, Rachel Stevens, Bambie Thug, Claire Richards, Countess Luann, and Say Now.

Furtado headlined the Saturday, making her long-awaited UK comeback in the process as she performed a plethora of classic bangers, from ‘Say It Right’ to ‘Maneater’ to ‘Promiscuous’ and, of course, ‘I’m Like a Bird’. The Canadian legend also performed her Tove Lo and SG Lewis-assisted new anthem, ‘Love Bites’.

On Sunday, Ware closed this year’s extravaganza with fan-favourite anthems such as ‘That! Feels Good’, ‘Spotlight’, ‘Free Yourself!’ and ‘Save a Kiss’, while Beth Ditto joined the star for a brilliant rendition of The Gossip’s iconic hit ‘Standing in the Way of Control’.

Elsewhere, Rita Ora took to the main stage to perform her arsenal of hits, including her new single ‘Ask & Ye Shall Receive’, Rachel Stevens ushered in Pride Month with a rainbow-assisted performance of ‘Sweet Dreams My LA Ex’ and Jojo Siwa blessed the UK with its first-ever performance of her viral single ‘Karma’.

Additionally, this year’s festival saw the introduction of Queertopia, a specially crafted stage to showcase the most promising up-and-coming queer talent in the music industry: Kamille, Lynks, Geo Jordan, Walt Disco, Nakhane, Karnage Kills, Bright Light Bright Light and Toya Delazy.

The Hayu Stage and Pleasure Palace continued to spotlight the world’s best queer nightlife, cabaret and drag entertainers with performances from Drag Race UK vs the World champion Tia Kofi, The Cocoa Butter Club, Pxssy Liquor, George Michael Disco and more.

In a statement, Mighty Hoopla organisers Glyn Fussell and Jamie Tagg said: “HOOPLA – we did it! 2024 done and wasn’t it EVERYTHING?

“Thank you so much to the best community there is – the Hoopla crowd never fails to amaze us with the impeccable energy you guys bring – big fun, big kindness and a never-failing culture of inclusivity and acceptance that brings us all so brilliantly together as one.

“Thanks to all of our performers, our partners, plus of course everyone behind the scenes who worked so hard to prepare the site this week. Roll on next year…. tickets on sale WEDNESDAY!”
