Genre-bending trailblazer montykeates has returned with a new, high-energy record.
Amassing a reputation for his unique brand of electronic pop-rock – now celebrated as “hyper-rock” – the 22-year-old artist continues to reflect on his formative experiences with social media and the notion of growing up as a product of his generation.
In a track speckled with up-tempo drums, digitised vocals, and a mosh-pit worthy outro, ‘RED LOVE HEART FOREVER’ speaks to the nostalgia of those who have navigated infatuation and heartbreak from behind the screen of a phone.
Reflecting on the track’s intimate parallels between love and technology, he reveals ‘RED LOVE HEART FOREVER’ is a love song dedicated “to my phone”.
“I spend hours and hours on my phone and it knows everything about me… that’s like a dream relationship, right?” he jested, “like any relationship it can be toxic, but I owe so much to technology and social media”.
The track is accompanied by a charmingly dynamic music video, marking another first for the up-and-coming star. Playing on the record’s reflections of digitised love, the video depicts a budding relationship between himself and a robot, as they spend the day enamoured in each other’s company.
His sixth single to date, ‘RED LOVE HEART FOREVER’ follows critically-acclaimed releases such as ‘WORTH LESS’, ‘EASY’, and debut, ‘PANIC!’.
The single marks his final instalment ahead of the release of EP DIGITAL LOVE CLUB on 28th November.
Emblematic of his rising star status, montykeates has quickly garnered notoriety from major outlets including Spotify, Apple Music, BBC Radio and META. He has also amassed a staggering 1.1 million followers on TikTok, providing viewers with comedic content on LGBTQ+ and Gen Z lifestyle, as well as a glimpse into his life as an up-and-coming music artist.
This summer, he was signed to GAY TIMES’ wax Talent, alongside industry-trailblazers such as Courtney Act, Daniel W Fletcher, Remi & Erris, AJ Clementine, Theo Walker, Jazzelle, Lucky Love and Enam Asiama.
