The fashion guru is publishing his memoirs in May.
Queer Eye star Tan France is going on a book tour to promote his memoirs, Naturally Tan. The book is set to be published some time in May.
Naturally Tan will document what life was like for the Queer Eye star when he was growing up gay in Yorkshire, in a traditional Asian family.
Venues on Tan’s book tour are in Manchester, Birmingham and London, and he will be visiting these locations from the 4-6 June. Tickets are on sale now, and can be purchased through Penguin’s website.
The tour promises that fans will be able to “experience his trademark wit, humour, and radical compassion.” Speaking about the book, Tan said that it “is meant to spread joy, personal acceptance, and most of all understanding.”
He added: “Each of us is living our own private journey, and the more we know about each other, the healthier and happier the world will be.”
Last year, Tan explained how starring on Queer Eye had brought him closer to his family. He explained that his family didn’t initially want to watch the show as they thought it was about him “going around the country and encouraging people to be homosexual.”
However, when they did watch the show, their reaction was overwhelmingly positive. “When they finally watched the show, they said ‘Oh my gosh it’s so much better than we ever expected,’” Tan said.
“You made us so proud. You’re just who you are’”
He then added: “I think their worry was that I was going to be someone else or different in my personal life.
“They saw me doing what I do, but also as the exact same person they’ve known their entire lives.”
And after his family watched the show, his relationship with them transformed. “Every time we Skype now, they ask about Robin [his husband],” France said.
And before we get to Season 3 of the critically acclaimed series, the Fab 5 will he heading to Tokyo, Japan for a mini-series of four episodes.
The mini-series of Queer Eye will see the group intertwine with the country’s culture, while they transform the lives of four Japanese men and women from different cultures and backgrounds.
