Halt! Drop everything, stop what you’re doing etc: the cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season four is finally here.
On 7 September, BBC Three announced the 12 fierce queens that are in the running for Britain’s Next Drag Superstar: Baby, Black Peppa, Cheddar Gorgeous, Copper Topp, Dakota Schiffer, Danny Beard, Jonbers Blonde, Just May, Le Fil, Pixie Polite, Sminty Drop and Starlet.
As per, the queens will duke it out week-after-week in a variety of unhinged challenges – such as the iconic Snatch Game – runway presentations and lip-sync smackdowns.
Season four premieres 22 September on BBC Three and iPlayer and will see the return of RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Graham Norton and Alan Carr as regular panellists.
It’s another star-studded season, with guest stars including Hannah Waddingham, Dame Joanna Lumley, Alison Hammond, Boy George, Lorraine Pascale, Mel B, Leomie Anderson, Olly Alexander and FKA Twigs.
Strictly Come Dancing fans unite, because the series will have a significant presence this year with hosts Tess Daly and AJ Odudu offering their “best blankety blanks” in the Snatch Game, while dancer Giovanni Pernice puts the queens “through their paces” for an all-singing, all-dancing challenge.
Irish comedian Aisling Bea will also “drop by to bring some comedy to the competition” and legendary singer-songwriter Cathy Dennis provides the contestants with “a songwriting masterclass”.
Norton recently told GAY TIMES that season four boasts “some of the best queens we’ve ever seen” and is “really impressive”.
Describing it as a “post-COVID season,” Norton said the cast didn’t have the same difficulties as season three, who “weren’t making any money and lots of the dressmakers had stopped working”.
“I think it was really hard during COVID, so this is definitely a post-COVID season and it’s great,” said the comedian. “You can look forward to it. You don’t need to worry!”
The first three seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK have been a monumental success for the BBC, having been streamer over 51 million times. The winner of season four will join The Vivienne, Lawrence Chaney and Krystal Versace in the UK Hall of Fame.
Enough chit-chat, eh? Meet the cast of season four below!
