Fans of Schitt’s Creek (ourselves included) have good reason to rejoice – discussions of a reboot of the beloved sitcom are back on the table.
The hit comedy show following the downwards social mobility of the Rose family, a clan of eccentric characters who wind up in the dustbowl town of Schitt’s Creek, ran from 2015 to 2020 across five seasons.
Throughout its multiple series, the show was celebrated for its joyful and authentic exploration of queer identity – whether it be the nuances of pansexuality, or the logistics of polyamory. This was in no small part thanks to it being created by and starring acting legend Eugene Levy and his son Dan Levy, the latter of whom is a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
And while the show wrapped up three years ago, one of the show’s producers, Andrew Barnsley, has suggested that we haven’t seen the last of the Rose family yet.
Speaking of a potential reboot, Barnsley told the news site The Messenger; “It’s something that we know there’s demand and interest for.”
He then added that; “It’s something that I know Dan and Eugene [Levy] are considering all the time, and I think it’s going to be a timing thing.”

Sound promising, right? Well, this isn’t the first time that makers of the show have publicly spoken about the possibility of a second coming of the hit series – with both of the show’s father and son co-creators teasing a potential comeback in interviews which took place in 2023 and 2020, respectively.
The elder Levy, for one, has said that in order for our reboot dreams to become a reality, all that is needed is the “right idea” to present itself.
“There’s nothing in the works right now to be honest, but you know, we’ve never stopped thinking about what might happen down the line,” he told Indiewire. “We’re certainly open to anything, I think when the idea that is the right idea presents itself we’ll probably act on it, I guess.”
His son, on the other hand, has even floated (kind of) the idea of a Schitt’s Creek movie saying; “If there is an idea that pops into my head it has to be really freaking good because this is a nice way to say goodbye.”
Sounds like it’s officially time to start manifesting the Schitt’s Creek reboot we all deserve…
