These guys are having the time of their lives.
While two NFL teams compete on the field during the Super Bowl each year, an equally fierce competition takes place during the commercial breaks as companies do their best to outdo each other with big-budget, viral adverts.
This year, an advert featuring for the National Football League featuring two sporting legends – Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. – was the undoubted winner of the best commercial break award.
The video starts with the New York Giants teammates practicing in preparation for next season, but their faux touchdown is interrupted by the sound of (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack.
Naturally, the two break out into a fully-choreographed routine to the 1987 classic, performed by Billy Medley and Jennifer Warner, which culminates in a recreation of the iconic lift scene between Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze in the movie.
When a coach tries to intervene, New York Giants safety Landon Collins utters the movie’s memorable line: “Just let them dance.”
NFL CMO Dawn Hudson told Ad Week that the commercial is a “celebration” of football and creativity.
“We wanted to keep that fun going for the Super Bowl and give our fans something to smile and laugh at that was just about football and how awesome is is to be part of a team.”
