Whatcha Think About That?
The Pussycat Dolls are set to make their long-awaited comeback on The X Factor: Celebrity.
The iconic girl group are set to perform on this weekend’s final (30 December) for the first time since they announced their hiatus in 2010. Louis Walsh broke the news today, telling Lorraine: “Pussycat Dolls are the guest. There’s an exclusive for you.”
It hasn’t been confirmed whether they will perform a brand new track or an old single. A medley is most likely; the band recently celebrated 15 years since they released their debut single, a cover of Luis Demetrio’s classic jazz pop song, Sway.
Back in September, a source close to Entertainment Tonight revealed that the group have been back in the studio recording new music, and that lead singer Nicole Scherzinger was “very excited” for them to reunite.
Nicole also told Variety earlier that week: “I am working on music. I’m still evolving as an artist and as a writer and as a performer, so I can’t wait to release new stuff next year.” She didn’t confirm whether it was solo music or for PCD.
The Pussycat Dolls achieved worldwide success with their 2005 debut album PCD, which spawned massive pop anthems such as Don’t Cha, Stickwitu, Beep, Buttons and I Don’t Need a Man. Don’t Cha and Stickwitu topped the UK charts.
They returned in 2008 with their second studio album Doll Domination, which featured hits such as When I Grow Up, I Hate This Part, Whatcha Think About That, Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny) and Hush Hush; Hush Hush.
The group disbanded in 2009 and Nicole found success as a solo artist with singles such as Baby Love, Poison, Don’t Hold Your Breath, Right There, Wet and Your Love. She later became a judge on The X Factor UK and The Masked Singer.
