Attention The Sims 4 fans! A polyamorous romance feature is finally headed to the longstanding game.

On 27 June, EA unveiled a thrilling new expansion pack for The Sims 4, titled ‘Lovestruck’.

Launching on 25 July, the new pack will transport players to the romantic world of Ciudad Enamorada and its three enchanting neighbourhoods, Vista Hermosa, Plaza Mariposa, and Nuevo Corazón.

Amid the gorgeous new backdrop, users can hone in on their Sim’s love lives by creating dating profiles on the Cupid Corner app, which will help them navigate the steamy dating scene, their turn-ons and turn-offs.

For those who want to play matchmaker, the pack includes a feature that lets their Sim learn how to become a Romance Consultant.

However, the biggest feature to be introduced alongside the ‘Lovestruck’ expansion is the option to strike up a polyamorous relationship.

With the new and free Romantic Boundaries system, players will be able to define how their respective Sims approach relationships regarding physical romantic and emotional exclusivity.

“This allows for Sims to date multiple Sims without impact to other relationships,” EA explained in a news release.

Shortly after the news was announced, fans flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their excitement over the new polyamorous feature and Lovestruck expansion pack.

One user wrote: “Big news for me, who always played sims with the intention of being the biggest ho in town.”

Another fan tweeted: “This just means I can recreate Challengers on the sims.”

A third user added: “Babe, wake up, new sims situationship update just dropped.”

The new Romantic Boundaries system joins the growing list of inclusive features within The Sims 4 universe.

Back in 2022, the game’s developers partnered up with It Gets Better and GLAAD for two new updates that allow players to choose a sexual orientation and pronouns for their Sims.

“As a team, we hold creativity, discovery, inclusivity and play as core values and strive every day to celebrate diversity, equity and inclusion for our people and community,” SimGuruJessica said in a statement via the EA website.

Lastly, in February 2023, The Sims 4 introduced a trans-inclusive update that included the introduction of top surgery scars, chest binders and shapewear, among other things.
