Attention, The Last of Us fans! A new action-packed trailer for season two has arrived!

Back in 2023, the HBO adaptation of the popular game franchise became an instant hit with TV enthusiasts for its stellar storytelling and showstopping acting performances from Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.

Due to its popularity and universal acclaim – boasting a 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes – the show was renewed for a second season weeks before its season one finale.

“I’m humbled, honoured, and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey,” Neil Druckmann, executive producer, said in a celebratory statement.

Over the last few months, the network has slowly started to release more information regarding the series – including first-look photos and cast announcements.

However, on 26 September, fans were finally treated to the first official teaser for the upcoming series – which gives fans an exciting look into the harrowing adventure that awaits Joel (Pascal) and Ellie (Ramsey).

At the start of the video, Catherine O’Hara’s character – who appears to be a psychologist – starts a timer before asking Joel if he wants to start their session.

Pearl Jam’s ‘Future Days then begins to play as shots of Ellie and Joel settling into their new lives in Jackson, Wyoming, flash across the screen.

“Let’s try something different. You can’t heal something unless you’re brave enough to say it out loud,O’Hara’s character exclaims in a voice-over.

As the trailer progresses, we get a first look at some of the show’s newcomers, like Dina (Isabela Merced), Jesse (Young Mazino), and the controversial Abby (Kaitlyn Dever).

“Say the thing you’re afraid to say. Say it out loud no matter what it is, no matter how bad. What did you do?O’Hara continues.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a The Last of Us teaser without a glimpse into the season’s wide range of antagonists – including the various hordes of infected and The Seraphites, aka Scars.

The exhilarating trailer was an immediate hit with fans, who took to social media to express their excitement for season two.

One fan on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “I’m actually going to need 3-5 business days to recover from the trailer.”

Another viewer tweeted: “They really said happy last of us day and handed us this on a SILVER FUCKING PLATTER.”

A third person commented: “The general public is about to learn why the Last of Us Part II is better than Part I in every single way.”

As of this writing, a release date for The Last of Us season has yet to be announced. However, we do know that it will drop sometime in 2025.
