Madonna has confirmed when we can expect her highly-anticipated fourteenth studio album.
In an interview with WWD, the pop icon said we can expect her album next year, not this year like originally planned. Are you crying? We’re crying. Sobbing, really.
She revealed: “I’m finishing my record, which I’m going to release next year. Yep, in between rose mist spray and serums, I’m actually making music. Can’t quit my day job.”
Madonna’s last studio album, Rebel Heart, was released in 2015 to highly positive reviews from critics, who called it her most engaging and original album in over a decade.
It charted at number one in Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland, and the top ten in France, Ireland, Mexico, Japan, New Zealand, Sweden, UK and the United States. Did someone say ‘longevity’?
The album spawned pop-bops such as Living for Love, Ghosttown, Bitch I’m Madonna, Iconic and Unapologetic Bitch.
The Queen of Pop has been working on new music for some time now, and even moved to the Portuguese capital of Lisbon for a bit last year to concentrate on the project.
Earlier this year it was revealed that she has been back in the studio with Mirwais, who produced the whole of her 2003 collection American Life, as well as helping her to create classic hit Don’t Tell Me.
