This legendary Drag Race contestant wants to be a judge on the UK version

“I’d love to be on that panel, really up close to RuPaul and really go in.”

In 2018, after years of anticipation, a RuPaul’s Drag Race spin-off was finally confirmed to hit the UK.

The cultural phenomenon to find America’s Next Drag Superstar will be opening up its workroom in Britain to start the royal line of British drag queens, and yas, RuPaul and Michelle Visage are back, back, back again!

“I am beyond excited to celebrate the massive charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent of the Queen’s queens,” RuPaul said. “And before anyone asks, yes, we would be thrilled to have Meghan Markle join us, as we are already preparing a ‘Royal-Mother-To-Be’ runway challenge.”

The full judging panel has yet to be confirmed, and one of Drag Race’s most legendary alumni says she wants in…

“I don’t think there’s ever been a drag queen judge on Drag Race,” season six runner-up Courtney Act told Digital Spy. “If not now, then when? I’d love to be on that panel, really up close to RuPaul and really go in.

“We got to sit opposite RuPaul at the tic tac lunch back when there was a tic tac lunch and I remember it was one of my highlights because I got to sit opposite RuPaul, less than a metre away, and she was asking questions and I was talking to her but it was also like, me staring at her lace front and her make up and her costume.

“That would be a cool thing about sitting on the judging panel, being up close to Ru.”

Courtney also gave her opinion on how Drag Race UK will be different to its US counterpart.

“Drag Race has drag queens of all colours and all varieties,” she added. “I feel the UK has a different style of drag altogether and while it does have some of those Drag Racestyles, there are many different flavours of drag.

“Even with putting on padding and body shaping, bum and waist and hips and boobs in proportion, I think a lot of UK drag doesn’t really pay attention to that style of drag. I think there’s a much more political message and there’s a lot more different priorities, so long as those priorities are celebrated.”

Yesterday, Courtney released the video for her massive dance-pop anthem, Fight For Love, which she will perform on SBS’ Eurovision – Australia Decides on Saturday 9 February.

“A sweet 16 years after Australian Idol, I have the chance to show Australia how I have grown as an artist and performer and I am so excited,” she said in a statement.

“To compete to represent Oz in Eurovision is second only to being on that stage in Tel Aviv and singing my lungs out for my country. Fight For Love is a dancefloor banger all about coming together and fighting for the things we believe in.

“I think it’s so important to think about the basic human rights of others and to use our collective voices, minds and bodies to lift those people up and bring about change.”
