“We’re figuring out whether it can work. I certainly hope it does.”

Back in July, it was announced that Gossip Girl would become the latest iconic series to receive the reboot treatment.

The teen drama, which ran from 2007-2012, starred Leighton Meester, Blake Lively, Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley, Taylor Momsen, Jessica Szohr and Ed Westwick as privileged upper-class teens in Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

It became a cultural phenomenon and launched the careers of several of its cast members.

A ten-episode revival is set to air on HBO’s upcoming streaming service, HBO Max, which will be set “eight years after the original website went dark” and will introduce “a new generation of New York private school teens”.

It will address “just how much social media – and the landscape of New York – has changed in the intervening years”.

Kristen Bell, who voiced the title character throughout all six seasons of the series, was recently asked by Collider if she’ll return for the reboot. After all, it wouldn’t be the same without her voice narrating every episode…

“Adding anything to your plate when you have a four and six-year-old is never easy, but it’s being discussed,” she told the publication. “We’re figuring out whether it can work. I certainly hope it does.

“To be honest, it’s mainly a time thing, of whether or not I can give those hours because of all the other obligations I’ve committed to, and the things that I wanna do with my life and my kids, and become a little bit more present.”

Bell then noted that she no longer has a “full time job” – she currently stars in NBC’s acclaimed fantasy comedy The Good Place, which will come to an end after its upcoming fourth season.

“I still work with Baby2Baby and No Kid Hungry, and I’m a UN Women’s Peace and Humanitarian ambassador, and I work with Immigrant Families Together,” she explained of her other work obligations.

“Those things drive me, during the day, and are the main amount of work that I do. Plus, I do this Apple show for Josh Gad called Central Park, and then I produce a show on Amazon called Do, Re & Mi, and I’m also a voice there.”

The actress is also set to reprise her iconic role at Princess Anna in the highly-anticipated sequel to Frozen, which is due for release this November, so she’s “trying to figure out if I can be available for them” and said she “hopes that it works out”.

The ten-episode revival of Gossip Girl is expected to air in 2020.
