Todrick Hall is reclaiming a homophobic slur on his latest single.
After teaming up with Ciara for an epic remix of his pounding club banger Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels earlier this year, Todrick is back with another queer anthem that you’ll want to add to your playlists – it’s called FAG, and it’s epic AF.
“They called me fag, now I’m the one with the bag, they called me bitch, now look who’s famous and rich,” he raps on the powerful track, before questioning: “Where are you now haters, speak up?”
The music video features Todrick and his two backing dancers rocking crop tops with anti-LGBTQ slurs on them (fag, sissy and punk) but when they turn around, it reveals the phrases ‘winning’, ‘bawlin’, and ‘famous and rich’. Can we get this as merch?
FAG is the second single to be taken from Todrick’s new mini album Haus Party Part Two, the second in a series of three EPs that take inspiration from LGBTQ culture, particularly gay ball culture.
Honestly, if we’d had a song like this when we were growing up, life would have been a little easier. Keep coming through with that representation, Todrick!
