Troye Sivan has opened up about the red flags he looks to avoid while using Hinge.

In a recent interview on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, the ‘Bloom’ singer opened up about his experience with the app, including his ban in 2021.

“I tried Hinge, and they blocked me. But then they actually fortified my account, like it can’t be reported now,” he revealed.

When asked if he still goes on the app, Sivan revealed that he’s not as active on it.

“I [have] it on my phone. I just don’t use it that much. I was excited when I got it. I probably used it really actively for about two weeks,” the ‘Rush’ singer explained.

While Sivan admitted to taking a break from Hinge, he offered some sage advice to host Jackie on how to navigate the app.

“I find it’s much better to if you are going to meet someone on the apps, meet them in real life as soon as possible,” he said.

“[Dating apps] give you the illusion that you’re doing something about your dating life. It makes you feel like you’re doing something, but you’re not. You’re sitting at home on the couch.”

The ‘Angel Baby’ singer also gave tips on “efficient dating,” which he admitted to being an expert at.

“I really like a 6:00 pm or 6:30 pm drink with the option to go to a dinner afterwards with them… you have a drink or two, and then you’re like, ‘oh damn, I’m meeting my friends for dinner at 8:00 pm, so I’ve got to run!'” he said.

“That seems very chill to me. Or if it’s going well, you don’t say that, and you say, ‘Should we go and grab some food?'”

Towards the end of his statement, Sivan revealed that not knowing what a person does is a red flag he tries to avoid.

“I don’t care what people do, but – and maybe it’s an entertainment industry thing or an LA thing, but there’s a lot of very beautiful people that you don’t really know what they do,” he revealed.

“That always, to me, is a little bit of a red flag. It always makes me nervous.”

Sivan’s recent interview comes a few weeks before the release of his highly anticipated third studio album, Something to Give Each Other – which is set to drop on 13 October.

The record will feature contributions from Oscar Görres, Ian Kirkpatrick, Leland and Styalz Fuego.

“This album is my something to give you – a kiss on a dancefloor, a date turned into a weekend, a crush, a winter, a summer. Party after party, after party, after party. Heartbreak, freedom. Community, sisterhood, friendship. All that,” Sivan wrote on Instagram.
