Australian pop star Troye Sivan has set the record straight on his sexual preferences in the bedroom.
The 28-year-old has addressed the claims that he’s “some crazy power bottom” in an appearance on Emily Ratajkowski’s High Low with EmRata podcast.
“I wrote this one song called ‘Bloom’ and it’s about bottoming,” the singer stated. “The lyric is ‘I bloom just for you’, and people took that and ran.
“I think in the consciousness of gay people, I’m some crazy power bottom or something, which is just not the case. I just wanted to put that out there.”

When Ratajkowski asked if the ‘Bloom’ singer is annoyed about having to clarify, he calmly denied it.
“Not really. Sometimes people are surprised, if they go on a date with me or something and I’m like ‘Oh, by the way, I’m not a bottom,’ I think they are like, ‘Oh’.”
Sivan teased that ‘Bloom’, upon its initial release in 2018, was a ‘gay anthem for bottoms’ in an interview with Dazed.
Bloom, his second album, was released in the same year to critical acclaim.
‘Rush’, the lead single from his upcoming third album, has received attention for its hedonistic lyrics and racy video.
Despite some online backlash due to a lack of body diversity amongst the video’s models, the track has been a success.
Something to Give Each Other, Sivan’s third studio album, is out 13 October.
