Sunday night’s Grammy Awards gave us plenty of incredible performances from women in pop, from Pink slaying Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken to Kesha’s big #MeToo moment singing Praying with the likes of Camila Cabello and Cyndi Lauper.
But it was Lady Gaga’s beautiful ode to her late aunt Joanne that really brought out the tears – sat at a piano draped in angel wings, the singer stripped things back to basics to perform the title track from her latest album.
“This is for my father’s late sister, Joanne. This is for love and compassion, even when you can’t understand,” she said.

Gaga also used the opportunity to bring attention to the Time’s Up movement, which aims to raise awareness of sexual harassment in Hollywood, before segwaying into a performance of hit single Million Reasons.
