Drag Race stars Valentina and Lolita Banana have been selected to host Drag Race Mexico.

On 12 May, the two beloved queens revealed the exciting news during their appearance at DragConLA.

“It is such a pleasure to announce that my comadre, my dear friend Lolita and I will be the host, the official hosts of the historical first season of Drag Race Mexico,” Valentina exclaimed alongside Lolita.

Like its predecessors, the upcoming international iteration of RuPaul’s Emmy Award-winning empire will highlight the charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent of the Mexican drag community. It will also be the second series in Spanish following Drag Race España.

Valentina and Lolita, the fourth and fifth former alums to host a series of Drag Race after Brooke Lynn Hytes, Rita Baga, and Nicky Doll, memorably shot to fame as contestants on Drag Race season nine and Drag Race France, respectively.

During Valentina’s season, the Miss Congeniality winner made waves when she iconically asked Mama Ru if she could “keep the mask” on during her Ariana Grande elimination lip sync.

Lolita also had an iconic run in the Drag Race universe when she became the first Mexican-born drag queen to compete on an international season of the popular franchise.

In an interview with Remezcla, Valentina opened up about her excitement for the show and sharing hosting duties with Lolita.

“I feel really honored that the news can finally come out. It’s been definitely hard for me to hold the secret in,” she said.

“To finally enjoy the love of the people, and to be so well-received, and to welcome Lolita Banana as well as my co-host is something I’m very excited that we get to do. I feel great.”

In response to the news, Drag Race fans flocked to social media to express their excitement over the new series.

One fan tweeted: “Drag Race Mexico with Valentina and Lolita I’m sobbing. I cannot wait for this franchise already.”

Another Drag Race enthusiast wrote: “Lolita Banana deserves the world. I’m so happy for both of them and even happier that Drag Race Mexico is going the Art Arya/Pangina Heals route.”

While the premiere date for Drag Race Mexico is being kept under wraps, the new series is set to air exclusively on WOW Presents Plus globally, including the UK, and Paramount Plus in Latin American countries and the US.

We can’t wait to see Valentina and Lolita Banana lead a new class of drag queens to superstardom.
