With a plethora of Snatch Game champions going on to conquer their respective seasons of Drag Race, from Jinkx Monsoon to Envy Peru and Sharonne, the staple challenge is widely said to “separate” the drag queens from ‘[insert country here]’s Next Drag Superstar’.

Often, Snatch Game occurs in the middle of the season, which means half of the queens don’t get the chance to flex their impersonation skills. The challenge is making its way to Drag Race UK this week, so expect some more legendary performances ala The Vivienne as thingy-majiggy and Bimini as Katie Price. (Fun fact incoming: all five challenge winners on the British franchise have either become finalists or won the whole damn thing.)

When GAY TIMES spoke to the eliminated queens of season six – Saki Yew, Dita Garbo, Zahirah Zapanta and Kiki Snatch – we found out which famous celebrity (or fairytale creature) they planned to pay homage to for Snatch Game. Read below! (And sob over what could’ve been.)

Saki Yew

“So, I had three options. I was prepared, but the option that I was going to go with was Imelda Marcos. […] But the thing is, I was going to do her as her older self and just really haggard. It was just a different take to what Manila [Luzon] did [on US season three].”

Dita Garbo

“I was really looking forward to Snatch Game. It’s one of those things where you either love it or hate it and I was just like, ‘You know what? Go in there and just do it.’ So, my character was the wretched Tooth Fairy. She would love to take your teeth. […] She’s quite wretched because she’s got teeth coming out of her cheeks, out of her head. She’s not the prettiest of girls, shall we say. But she’s fun, and she says it like it is.”

Zahirah Zapanta

“I was gonna do Jim Carrey as The Grinch and I was so excited. I went to a local nursing home as The Grinch last year and to my niece’s house and scared her. I’ve got actual footage of this! It was magical, but also I terrified all the old people at the nursing home.”

Kiki Snatch

“I was going to do Regina Hall [as] Brenda Meeks from Scary Movie. […] Like, ‘I got you on candid camera now!’ There was so much I was going to do. I’m even in the wig now!”
